  2. Locate the link labelled “JEE Main 2027 Answer Key” or “Provisional Answer Key”.
  3. Log in using your application number and password, or date of birth, depending on the login mode NTA specifies for that session.
  4. Select your paper, either B.E./B.Tech or B.Arch/B.Planning, since NTA hosts them separately.
  5. View the document on screen, then download and save the PDF.
  6. Cross-check every question ID against your response sheet before you close the tab.

Memory-Based Answer Keys: Should You Trust Them?

Before NTA publishes the official provisional version, several coaching institutes release their own memory-based answer keys within hours of each shift ending. These unofficial versions, prepared from student recall and expert review, help you form an early estimate. However, only the official NTA document determines your actual score, so treat memory-based versions as a rough preview rather than a final reference.

How to Calculate Your Score Using the JEE Main Final Answer Key?

Once the final answer key is out, your raw score can be worked out using this formula:

JEE Main Score = (Correct Answers × 4) − (Incorrect Answers × 1)

  • This applies equally to MCQs and numerical value questions; both carry four marks for a correct answer and lose one mark for an incorrect one.
  • Only unanswered questions, or those marked for review without selecting an option or entering a value, score zero.
  • If NTA drops a question from the final key, every candidate in that shift gets four marks for it, whether they attempted it or not.
  • Calculate the score separately for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, then add all three together.

Example of Score Calculation

Response TypeNumber of QuestionsMarks
Correct answers50200 (50*4)
Incorrect answers10Minus 10 (10*1)
Unattempted100
Total70190 (200-190)

This calculation only estimates your raw score. NTA converts raw scores into percentile using a shift-wise and session-wise normalization process.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When will the JEE Main answer key 2027 be released?

NTA typically releases the provisional version three to five days after each session’s exam concludes, with Session 1 expected in early February 2027 and Session 2 expected in mid to late April 2027.

Is the answer key the same as the response sheet?

No. The JEE Main answer key shows the correct option for each question, while the response sheet shows the option you personally selected. You need both to estimate your score.

What happens if NTA drops a question from the answer key?

Every candidate in that specific shift receives full marks for the dropped question, regardless of whether they attempted it.

Can I use the JEE Main Answer Key to predict my rank?

Yes. It helps candidates calculate a raw score, but the rank depends on NTA’s percentile normalization across all shifts and sessions, which only NTA can compute.
