What is JEE Main Paper 2B (B.Planning)?
JEE Main Paper 2B is conducted for B.Plan admission at NITs, SPAs, CEPT University, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). Candidates can choose to attempt either B.Planning or B.Arch, or both papers of JEE Main. The paper has three sections, including mathematics, aptitude, and planning. JEE Main Paper 2B Registration 2027
The registration process for JEE Main B.Planning is the same as for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Aspirants can follow the JEE Main Application Process below to apply for the B.Plan program.
Steps to register for JEE Main Paper 2B:
- Step 1: Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in and click on “Apply for JEE Main 2027“
- Step 2: Complete the registration by entering basic details and creating a password. Note the system-generated Application Number.
- Step 3: Fill the application form, select Paper 2B (B.Planning) or both Paper 2A and 2B if you want to appear for both. Choose up to 4 exam cities in order of preference.
- Step 4: Upload scanned photograph, signature, and Class 10 certificate as per NTA specifications.
- Step 5: Pay the examination fee online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI.
- Step 6: Download and save the Confirmation Page.

JEE Main B.Planning Eligibility Criteria 2027
Before filling the application form, candidates must ensure they meet the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2B. The eligibility conditions cover age limit, academic qualification, subject requirements, and Class 12 percentage for NIT admission.
Age Limit
There is no age limit for JEE Main 2027. Candidates of any age can appear, provided they meet the academic qualification criteria.
Academic Qualification
Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2025 or 2026, or be appearing in 2027. Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or before are not eligible.
Subject Requirement
For B.Planning admission through JoSAA counselling at NITs and SPAs, the qualifying examination must have Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Candidates must also have passed with at least 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
Class 12 Percentage for NIT Admission
For admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs through JoSAA Counselling, candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) or be in the top 20th percentile of their respective board.
Number of Attempts
Candidates can appear in JEE Main for a maximum of 3 consecutive years from the year of passing Class 12.

How to Prepare for JEE Main Paper 2B?
Mathematics
The Maths syllabus is identical to Paper 1. Focus on Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, and 3D Geometry, which form the bulk of questions. Use NCERT as the base and then move to R.D. Sharma or SL Loney for practice.
