Candidates planning to appear for the JEE Main 2027 exam must ensure that all required documents are in place before they begin filling out the application form. Any document uploaded in an incorrect format, with the wrong file size or with mismatched information can result in the rejection of their candidature.
Verify every document against the specifications listed by the NTA, double-check before submitting and keep physical copies ready well before the examination date. The article below provides a complete guide on the documents required for JEE Main Registration 2027.
Documents Required for JEE Main 2027 Registration
Candidates who meet the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2027, including age, qualifying examination and number of attempts, must ensure that all uploaded documents align with their eligibility proof. The following documents must be uploaded carefully during the application process.
Passport-Size Photograph
- The photograph must be recent and in colour.
- At least 80% of the face, including both ears, must be clearly visible without a mask, and the background must strictly be white or light-coloured.
- The file must be in JPG/JPEG format with a size between 10 KB and 200 KB.
Candidates must also note that a live photograph is required at the time of form submission. For this, ensure your camera or webcam is functional and that there is a light-coloured background with adequate lighting before you begin.
Signature
- The candidate’s signature must be written on white paper using a black pen and scanned clearly.
- The file must be in JPG/JPEG format with a size between 10 KB and 100 KB.
- A blurred or illegible signature is a common reason for application rejection, so candidates must ensure the scan is at a high resolution.
Class 10 or Equivalent Certificate/Marksheet
- A scanned copy of the Class 10 certificate or marksheet is mandatory, as it is used to verify the candidate’s date of birth and educational background.
- The file must be in PDF format with a size between 50 KB and 300 KB, and it must be clearly readable.
Identity Proof
- Candidates who choose to verify their identity through a method other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker must upload a scanned copy of a valid photo ID.
- The accepted format is JPG/JPEG, with a file size between 10 KB and 200 KB.
PwD/PwBD Disability Certificate (Wherever Applicable)
- Candidates claiming benefits under the PwD/PwBD category must upload a scanned disability certificate in PDF format, with a size between 50 KB and 300 KB.
NTA will verify the UDID Card details directly against the UDID portal of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DePwD). Candidates who do not yet have a UDID Card must upload their disability certificate in the prescribed NTA format, which NTA may subsequently verify from the issuing authority.

Documents to Carry on the Day of the Examination
Completing the registration is not enough. Candidates must carry the following original documents to the examination centre on the day of the test. Failure to produce any of these will result in the candidate not being permitted to appear for the examination.
- Admit Card with Self Declaration: A printed copy of the JEE Main Admit Card along with the Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA website must be brought to the centre. It must be a clear printout on A4-size paper, duly filled in.
- Passport-Size Photograph: One passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded in the application form, is required for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the examination centre.
- Original Photo ID Proof: Any one original, valid and non-expired photo identity document must be carried. Acceptable documents include a valid School Identity Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card with photograph, e-Aadhaar with photograph, Class 12 Board Admit Card with photograph or a Bank Passbook with photograph.
- PwD/PwBD Certificate: Candidates claiming relaxation under the PwD/PwBD category must carry the relevant certificate issued by an authorised medical officer.
NTA has explicitly stated that candidates must upload only their own photograph, signature and certificates. Uploading documents belonging to another person is a serious violation of NTA guidelines. Any mismatch or tampering discovered at any stage, including after the examination, will be treated as an Unfair Means (UFM) practice and will attract strict action as outlined in the official Information Bulletin. Additionally, NTA does not allow changes in the uploaded documents after form submission.
