Ques. What is the difference between the JEE Main qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff?

Ans. JEE Main qualifying cutoff is the minimum percentile set by NTA to determine eligibility for JEE Advanced. In contrast, the admission cutoff consists of opening/closing ranks released by JoSAA during counselling for seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. 
Qualifying cutoff qualifies the top 2.5 lakh candidates for Advanced, while admission cutoffs are much higher for specific institutes/branches based on seats and demand.

Ques. What percentile is needed for CSE admission in top NITs like Trichy or Surathkal?

Ans. As a general category candidate, aim for the 98 percentile or more for targeting top NITs or IIITs in CSE. Top NITs like Trichy and Surathkal have closing ranks under 1,200 for General.
